New President- New Hope January 20, 2009

President Barack Obama

President Barack Obama

It’s a new day. I feel a little like a small child at Christmas time just waiting to see what comes next.  No matter who you voted for, you probably agree that it was time for a change.  For me, I was a fan of Barack Obama nearly 2 years before he annouced his intention to run for President.  They were on the Oprah show promoting his new book “Audacity of Hope.”  Michelle had phoned her husband to ask him to get ant spray on his way home from work.  He made a joke and told her that he guessed Senator McCain didn’t have to pick up ant spray.  Michelle’s comment back was, “If he doesn’t, he should.”  To me, they are just normal people with extremely high aspirations and now responsibility.  I told my husband that day that if that man ever ran for President, I would vote for him.

I’m so happy today that my son will grow up in a world not knowing that having an African American as President is any big deal.  It will be completely normal for him. As a business owner, mother, and citizen – I’m ready for change. I’m ready to do my part to make the world a better place.

I’m grateful for:

  • my family
  • our health
  • my clients
  • a renewed sense of hope

Certified Virtual Assistant

Certified Virtual Assistant

Today I received my final seal from Practice Pay Solutions ( a reseller of 1shoppingcart.com).  I don’t know why I get so crazed about these little things – other than they are the one item of proof that I can provide as to how much I’ve learned since starting this journey.  As if I didn’t have enough of these- I’m about to embark on a few more certification classes. Although I feel I have a great grasp of SEO and traffic, I’ve found a site that actually provides certification in these areas!  I’ll be taking those next and implementing any new knowledge I get along the way in my own client’s businesses.

My business partner and I have decided to open a new joint company together.  I’m completely excited for the possibilites that it will bring for both of us- but more excited for the clients that we will be able to help launch, but more on that another post.

The Virtual Difference has two brand new team members- Sandy Morgan and Jennifer Walker. I just wanted to introduce them and say that after they are trained, we’ll be able to do work faster than before! Welcome ladies!

This means that TVD will soon be launching a product for clients that are do-it-yourselfers.  The free time I will have thanks to Sandy and Jennifer will allow me to author my own DVD series that teaches clients what I do and how I do it – even with a workbook that will assign the homework I normally assign when working with a client personally!  This will be a nice affordable option for the clients who want a certified virtual assistant to help them launch their online business- but maybe don’t have the resources available just yet. Stay tuned to The Virtual Difference for more updates.

Election Day November 5, 2008

Filed under: Events — thevirtualdifferenceblog @ 6:51 pm

Voting never gets old.  I can’t imagine feeling like my vote doesn’t count.  Just hovering over the little ballot with my black magic marker gets me giddy with power.  I feel like I’m shaping the future for my family and especially my son.  No matter who you were voting for, you have to admit that it’s an exciting day to see an African American president.  I’m so happy that my son will grow up in a world where that will be “no big deal.”

I cried knowing how far we were from the days of slavery – I’m proud of us.  It’s been a long time since I’ve felt that.  Most days you can be overwhelmed by bad news in the media and you forget just how far we’ve come and that this too shall pass.  That’s why I’ve tried my hardest to stay away from news and media- I’m making my own reality!

I’m excited about forming a virtual assistant mastermind to get to know other VA’s better and shaping the VA Central for one of my clients.

Today is also my first tele-seminar!  How to choose a VA is going to be a monthly task that I get to do, and even though I’m nervous, I’m looking forward to becoming an old hand at this!

SWEET TOOL October 25, 2008

I have to thank my good friend Cheryl for this one.  ZamZar is a site that allows you to upload any type of file- and it will convert it to any OTHER type of file FREE!  PDF to World or vice versa- to PNG – to TXT – to HTML etc! How sweet is that!  This could be great for people who can’t seem to open documents I send them – or people send me. Just one more little tool in your toolbox. Thanks Cheryl!!

For those of you who are wondering about tips I learned from my meeting yesterday- I DID learn some fantastic things. I haven’t had a chance to explore anything, but I have a few goodies in my treat bag I’ll blog about after I learn more myself. Stay tuned!

Enjoy!

Keeping my In-Tention where my A-ttention is… October 24, 2008

I think it’s important – especially in business – to stay in the right vibrational path so you attract the right clients and not “those other ones.” You know who I mean – the energy suckers!!  You can almost hear the straw slurping on the other end of the phone as you sink further and further in your chair and feel a ball of frustration build in your chest.  I’m fantastically lucky and have drawn the right clients to me- but there’s days I am shown that my vibrational energy is not where it needs to be.  My wonderful friend Renee Brown shared these videos with me from the teachings of Abraham.  These are definitely tools to help your business folks- just not in the way your used to thinking about “tools.”  I am off this afternoon to go have lunch with my local Assist U chapter, so I’m sure I’ll come back with some interesting tips and tricks! Very excited to see them again.  I mean- what’s the worse that could happen if you watched these daily- investing 20 minutes in yourself every day and wrote down your action item list for the day – another list of items you want, but don’t know how to bring them about – and gave that list away?  Then get busy and go to work.

The First Post! October 20, 2008

Wow, this has been an exciting and exhausting day!  I’ve authored my own private and personal blog for over two years now, but to think of starting a new one is like having another child- yipee!!!  In addition, I launched my new website and I’m joining forces to start three new companies this year.  What a wild ride.

I’m checking out new software tonight (will be back with a review) on creating your own customized WordPress themes.  I’d love for the new blog to have the same feel as the new website.  No reviews until I’ve used it myself and love it!

New love today is www.iclipart.com – fantastic price for the deal! Check it out!
